A lot of people are not aware of the process that takes place to receive water at their respective homes. In good faith, most people think that the city is providing us with healthy and clean water. Truth is, the city cleans our water with chemicals before it even becomes accessible to us. We deserve the best water, as it is essential to our life. It is critical that we are aware of this situation, and we know how to truly test our water so we know the truth behind how clean our water is.
How does the treatment process work?
Before the water reaches your home, there is a series of steps that must occur. This is a quick illustration provided by http://www.cdc.gov that explains the process in a nut shell.
Coagulation and Flocculation – This is normally the first occurring steps in the process. Positive chemical charges are added to the water so it can stabilize dissolved particles and dirt that is in the water. The particles then combines with the chemical and form larger particles called floc
Sedimentation – During this phase , the floc then settles at the bottom of the water supply.
Filtration – During this process, the clear water on top of the floc will go through several filters of different compositions such as sand, gravel, charcoal, dirt etc so that bad infectious contaniments such as parasites, bacterium, dust and other unwanted chemicals are removed.
Disinfection – After the filtration process, chlorine is then added to kill remaining parasites, bacteria, and other containments to protect the water before it reaches our homes.
So if you think about it, the water that we drink has so many chemicals that treat the water before we get it. Have you ever noticed an after taste when you drink tap water or even most bottled water. It is like a chlorine after taste that most people don’t even notice since we have been drinking the city’s water for so long
How to test my water cleanliness?
The best way to test the quality of your water is by buying a water test kit. This will let you know how clean your water is. Here is a video on how to test your water.
Another way to test your water is by letting a professional come test and explain everything to you (Contact me for the best professionals). They will normally do a consultation for free. Here is a test that made me realize how bad my water was.
These are the results from the acid test at my new home. The water did not come out like this. This was after the acid was added. The acid reveals the particles that are really behind the water we drink, sleep, and bathe in. As you can see, the refined water on the left is the filtered water and the raw water on the right is the city’s water after the acid was applied. If you ever wondered why dirt accumulates so quick in our tub, sinks etc, it is because our water isn’t fully clean and it attached to those chemicals which leaves scum behind. It is also the reason why we need a lot of lotion when we are ashy. Because of our water, it dries our skin out which makes us ashy. We naturally have oils and our own odor, but when we bathe in bad water, we are typically drying our skin out.
So now that you see the picture above, I also did another test. I filled up two glasses. One with the filtered water, and the other with the regular water. The goal was to see how many drops of pure soap extraction drops
it took for suds to form. Here are the video results below.
The Answer! A water softener system!
After the entire process, there are still cantonments that are left in the water we bathe in, wash our clothes and dishes with, and that we used to brush our teeth. Here is a video of a guy explaining how a softener system works.
Conclusion
It is critical that we know what is in the water we drink. Most bottled watered companies contains chlorine and fluorine in their water. When you buy another water bottle, look and see what all is added to the water. You will notice that extra things was added as well, but we think we are drinking the best water. It is key that we at least test our home water so we know the quality of it. There are several companies that have water softener products and I love the one that I currently have. It is solar powered, so I don’t even have to worry about it affecting my power bill. Let’s continue to live the best lives and be aware of potential dangers to our health.
